eslite was founded in March 1989 on the Ren’Ai Roundabout in Taipei, and opened its first professional bookstore specializing in arts and humanities.

By sticking to the concept of Charity, Love, Aesthetics, and Lifelong Learning, also with the core values of “integrating the humanities, art, and creativity into life” over the past 30 years, we continue to promote and encourage reading. In 2012, eslite stepped out of Taiwan for the first time, entering the most prosperous and bustling shopping district in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.

Over the decades, eslite has been offering a unified reading and lifestyle experience by running stores not only in Tsim Sha Tsui and Taikoo, but also in different Hong Kong districts. In 2023, there are nearly 50 eslite stores in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Suzhou, Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur, attracting more than 200 million visitors from all over the world.
